Carrie A. DiGiulio, 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 after a short illness. She was born in Akron on April 10, 1927. Carrie is preceded in death by her husband Dominic, her son Gary, Parents Nicola & Rose Braccio, Sisters Dolores Ripellino, Catherine Hecht and Brother Michael Braccio.
Carrie met her husband Dominic at Scott’s 5&10 while working at O’Neil’s in downtown Akron. They married six months later, had five children and were married for 63 years. She will always be known by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as the Grandma/Nanny with the infamous candy dish at any family gathering. Carrie belonged to the Forest Hill Women’s Club for 60 years and was an avid Cavs and Indians fan. A special thanks to the Summa Nurses on the palliative floor for their excellent care and compassion.
Carrie is survived by her children Carolyn (Rich) Leonard, Tony DiGiulio, Debbie (Steve) Geary, Tami (Rich) Pallotta and Daughter-in-law Cynthy DiGiulio. Grandchildren; Mike Leonard, Michelle (Todd) Belcher, Matt Leonard, Gina DiGiulio, Gilli-Ann (Jeff) Marx, Katie Summers, Nick (Fiancée Sally) Zeno, Danielle (Joe) Laria, Kristen (Brandon) Caipen, Mike (Jenn) Zeno and Jake Pallotta. Great Grandchildren: Kylie, Marisa and Dominic Belcher, Jack Zeno, Dallas and baby Laria, William and baby Caipen. Step-Grandchildren; Mason Geary, Rich Pallotta Jr. and Amy Fishel, Laura Pallotta, and Sonya Rarey. Step-Great-Grandchildren; Sophia, Vincent, Ella, Chase, Alexa. Sisters; Maggie Seprino, Mary Bamonte, Brothers Tony (Judy) Braccio and Jim (Barb) Braccio. Sister-In-Laws; Frances Massa, Cecilia Capozzi and Nardina Conti. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, June 30th from 4 p.m. -8 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., on the Historic Tallmadge Circle.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1st at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Crabbs officiating. The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior.
Interment will be held at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
