Margaret A (Jakob) Kuss "Eppie"

Margaret A. Kuss (“Eppie”), 94, died Friday, September 1 in Lee’s Summit, MO following a short illness.

Born February 19, 1923 in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosa (Stoff) Jakob.  She lived most of her life in Akron moving with her husband, William F. (Bill) Kuss to Lee’s Summit, MO in 1998.  As a young woman she worked for General Tire supporting the war effort for World War II.  She was forced to stop working for General Tire after contracting benzene poisoning there.  She was then employed by Woolworth’s.  She married her husband in 1946 and devoted the rest of her life to raising her family.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband and together they made many memorable trips throughout the United States, were avid campers for many years, and made a long visit to Europe.  She loved to cook and bake and we all loved eating the wonderful things she made.  When Bill passed away in 1999, they had been married 52 years.

Survivors include daughters Christine and her husband Dennis Cromley, of Lee’s Summit, MO, Joan and her husband Dennis Dimengo, of Centreville, VA, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Ilene Grigsby, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Sandy France, and sister-in-law Nancy Jakob.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Kuss, newborn daughter Margaret Elaine Kuss; brothers, sisters and in-laws John and Charlotte Jacob, Stephen Jacobs, Henry Jakob, Rose and Emil Gross, Kathryn Murray, Helen and Jim Dull, Charles and June Kuss, Stanley and Marion Shanafelt, Walter (“Red”) and June Kuss, Harold and Dorothy Headrick, and Mark Grigsby, and grandson Matthew Davies

Margaret’s family would like to thank the kind and caring nurses and staff at Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center in Lee’s Summit, MO who took wonderful care of her.   Also, the family thanks Ascend Hospice for their loving and gentle care for Margaret in her last few days.

The family would also like to thank Margaret’s pastors and fellow members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Friends will be received from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Donovan Funeral home, 17 Southwest Ave (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle) with services following immediately at the funeral home.

 Interment will be at the Restland Cemetery of Brimfield, OH.
