Welcome to the memorial page for

Patrick Thompson

February 19, 1928 ~ January 12, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Patrick O’Neil Thompson, 88, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born in Waynesburg, Kentucky, he lived in Tallmadge for over 55 years.

Patrick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired in 1989 after a 35-year career as a Plumber/Pipefitter with Local 219. He was an active member of The Chapel for over 60 years, serving as a deacon, usher, Sunday School teacher and member of the Hospital Visitation Team.  Patrick followed his passion of caring for others and sharing his faith on several mission trips around the world.  He was a member of the Tallmadge Primetimers, Tallmadge AARP, and Mr. & Mrs. Club.  He was a Scoutmaster with Boy Scouts, active in the YMCA Indian Guides, and also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

Patrick’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially the 68 years spent with his “Miss Patty”.  Patrick reveled in the success of his children, beamed with pride for his grandchildren and adored his little great-granddaughters.  He always made time to lend an ear to listen, bestow a little wisdom, and tell one of his stories. These conversations always ended with an “I love you”.  His ever-present kindness, gentle heart, and compassion for others will be remembered forever by all who knew him.  He was the easiest person to love.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mary Thompson; brothers, Melvin and Robert Thompson; mother in law, Melva Windle.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Renee Thompson of Akron; sons, Patrick Craig (Joan) Thompson, Kevin (Carmen) Thompson, Jeff (Linda) Thompson all of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Jacob (Deb) Thompson, Dustin Thompson, Nick (Tori) Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Erin Thompson, Kristen Thompson, Austin Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Jennifer (Corey) Moke; great- grandchildren, Kaylee Thompson, Mila Thompson, Chloe Moke, Juliana Moke; sister, Betty Contrascier of Uniontown; cousin, William (Theresa) Thompson of Cuyahoga Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
