Richard H. DeWitt

Richard H. DeWitt, 87, passed away June 27, 2015.

Born in Amherst, Richard had lived in Tallmadge since 1970. He graduated from Vermillion High School and received a BA in Business Administration from Heidelberg College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the Finance Division of Goodyear Tire and Rubber in 1987 with 37 years of service. Richard was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, served on various boards, and was an avid armchair sports fan.

Richard is survived by his wife Jean; daughter, Debra DeWitt of Houston, TX; son, Douglas (Jean) DeWitt of Springboro; grandchildren, Kristin and Michael; brother, John (Marilyn) DeWitt of Westerville; nephews, Rick and Dave (Mary) DeWitt.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Dr. in Tallmadge with Pastor Sarah D. Courtney officiating. Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, Scholarship Fund, or Heidelberg College, Tiffin, OH.
