Timothy P. Mattingly, 69, passed away July 19, 2016.

Born in Akron, Tim had lived in Tallmadge since 1987 and was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church.  He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an Airborne Ranger with the E Co. 20 Infantry LRP (Long Range Patrol) and later with the 82nd Airborne.  Tim retired in 2008 from Ohio Edison with 38 years of service as a lineman. He was a handyman who could fix anything and loved making old things new.  He enjoyed outdoor activities, riding his Harley, and loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog Harley. His inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bernice Mattingly and sister, Dorothy Wade.

Tim is survived by his wife, Pamela of 44 years; daughter, Julie (Todd) Lombardi; son, Timothy (Jenny) Mattingly, II, all of Uniontown; grandchildren, Brady, Kayla, Tyler and Tommy sisters, Sr. Dorothy Mattingly, O.P. of Akron, Jean (Jack) Albright of Stow, and Eileen (Harry) Hagenbaugh of Brimfield; brother, William (Lin) Mattingly of Munroe Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Ave., Akron.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the church with Rev. Michael Williamson officiating.

Interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
