Gloria DiGiacomo Obituary

Gloria Alberta DiGiacomo passed away March 9, 2024 at the age of 90.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born to Nick and Inez Spardy, her life began on February 1, 1934 in Akron, Ohio and she spent her entire life in the Akron area.

She was a 1952 graduate of North High School and was highly valued as an administrative secretary at Goodyear before assuming the duties of parish secretary at Our Lady of Victory in Tallmadge, Ohio for 21 years. She was adored by her fellow parishioners and earned the praise of Father John Hengle as having unparalleled “encyclopedic knowledge.”

Her home was the center of family life, and she welcomed clergy, friends and relatives from far and wide. Gloria was a loving, compassionate and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived the Christian philosophy by putting the needs of others before her own. She was the glue that brought family together, especially the Sunday get togethers she hosted for decades.

She adored her family and friends, as her greatest treasure was playing an active part in every one’s life, and she felt blessed and humbled to have lived nine decades of a very rich life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Urbino; brothers, William and Raymond Spardy.

Gloria is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Christopher) Boshkos, Lisa (David) Paolucci, Renee (Michael) DeBerry; and son, John (Marianna) DiGiacomo. She was a fun and loving grandma to Ben (Stephanie) Boshkos, Mitchell Boshkos, Katie (Josh) Crouch, Alyssa (Drew) Laury, Sophie  (Ian) Hampson, Sam DeBerry, Vince, Joey and Anthony DiGiacomo; Best GiGi to her great-grandchildren and lights of her life – Quinn Laury, Finley Crouch and Daphne Hampson.

She also leaves behind special cousin, Doris Rolenz; brother-in-law, Ugo DiGiacomo; sister-in-law, Gina DiGiacomo; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces across the globe.

If you were lucky enough to have met Gloria, then you know how truly special she was to everyone.  Her beautiful and lasting smile and her wonderful sense of humor remained throughout her life.

Her family is truly grateful to the caring staff at The Village of St. Edwards in Green who treated her with such kindness, respect and most of all love and to them we extend our deep appreciation.

Per Gloria’s request, a private family service will be held to celebrate her life.

“Gone yet not forgotten, although we are apart, your spirit lives within us, forever in our hearts.”

If you want to do something in remembrance of Gloria, be especially kind to someone today and think of her. She would love that!
