Clifford Birdsall passed away peacefully August 1st, 2018. Born June 19th, 1924, he grew up in Brecksville Ohio. Graduating in May of 1942, he attended the Fall quarter of his freshmen year at Ohio State University before being drafted into World War II. He went into the Army in January of 1943 and was taken prisoner on December 19, 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge. On April 26th 1945, he was liberated by Allied forces. He returned to Ohio State University where he graduated with a degree in engineering. Shortly thereafter he met and married Ruth Hudders.
Clifford Birdsall spent the next 40 years working as a civil engineer. Together, he and Ruth lovingly raised 3 children. Cliff and Ruth were married until Ruth’s passing in 2001. He then met and married Margarete Boschert, who gave him many happy additional years of life he would not have had otherwise.
He is survived by children Kerrie Birdsall of Coto de Caza, California, Clark and Kathryn Birdsall of Dallas, Texas, and Clifford and Barbara Birdsall of Dublin, Ohio, as well as grandchildren John Phillips, Jennifer, Chad, Monica, Kyle and Leah Birdsall, and great grandchildren Lily and James Phillips; sister, Janet Tempel; extended family Heidi Blakeway-Phillips, Mark Boschert and their families.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home at 17 Southwest Ave, Tallmadge (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle), with Pastor Dave Brumbaugh officiating, followed by Warriors Journey Home Last Roll Call at the Tallmadge Cemetery Gazebo with Rev. John Schluep.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks consideration of donations to Warriors Journey Home at First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Drive, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278, or directly to the First Congregational Church at the aforesaid address.
