John O. “Jack” Foraker, IV, 89, went to be with his Lord, December 6, 2018. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 17, 1929 and had lived in Tallmadge since 1969.
Jack served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had worked at Jennings Heating and Tri County Heating as a Sales Engineer and Designer. Jack was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where he was an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher. He had graduated from Sanford Prep, N.C. State University and John Knox Bible Institute. He was also a member of the Kiwanis, PMC Board of Tallmadge, Cuyahoga Falls H&AC, Summit County H&AC and past President of Akron Assoc. of HVAC. Jack loved all sports, he was a NCAA Football official and collected Indian artifacts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John, III and Helen Foraker; brother, Bill Foraker.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Joni (John) Elffers; sons, Jack (Lynn) Foraker, V., Jeff (Donna) Foraker, Mike (Deb) Foraker, Ken (Sandi) Foraker; grandchildren, Audrea (Jeff), Amber (Derrick), Kim (David), Meghan (Brandon), Tom (Katelyn), Ryan, Dave (Noel), Kate (AJ), John Henry (Christina), William (Sarah), Grant, Lindsey (Nate), Jess, Jordan; 15 great grandchildren; six brothers, sister, Helen; and many nieces and nephews.
John was an adventurer at heart. He and his sons built the “Hallelujah Cabin” along the Clarion River as a family touchstone. His greatest adventure, however, was his 70 year marriage to his high school sweetheart, his beloved Barbara. John leaves behind a legacy of Christian faith, family devotion and love of country . We are grateful for the wonderful care from the nurses and doctors at Summa T2 and Troy at 7E.
Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Chapel Hill Christian Missionary Alliance, 1160 Howe Ave., Cuyahoga Falls with Pastor Adam Harper officiating.
Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
