After a short illness, Pete passed away August 5, 2018. He was born May 17, 1930 in Akron, Ohio to Antonio and Arcangela Battista. Growing up in North Hill, he graduated from North High School, class of 1948.
On October 28,1950 he married Tobi Carr and they were blessed with four wonderful children.
Pete retired from Goodyear/Lockheed Martin with 37 years of service. He was a fan of the Indians, Cavs, Browns and Ohio State of which he enjoyed collecting buckeyes to create Ohio State necklaces for family and friends. But his main passion was golf and his proudest achievement was getting three hole-in-ones in three different states and signed a score card for his all time low of 69. He volunteered for many PGA Tournaments at Firestone and even got to play in one of the Pro/Ams with professional golfer, Isao Aoki.
Pete and Tobi have lived in Tallmadge for sixty years and the Tallmadge Little League and Youth Football programs have benefitted from his involvement and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Grace Ciavarella; his beloved grandson, Michael Battista; and very close cousins, Pete and Gabe Nardella.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Tobi; daughter, Debra (Tom) Achberger of Aurora; sons, Randal of Tallmadge, Mark (Deborah) of Morrow, Peter (Lynn) of Boise, Idaho; brother, Matthew (Gerry) of Stow; sister, Mary Maneval of Medina; grandchildren, Paul and Amy Achberger, Calia and Parker Battista, Daniel, Emily, and Scott Battista, Maggie (Austin) Troyer, Sarah Battista; very special great grandson, Austin Achberger; and many nieces and nephews.
Somewhere on a plush golf course out in the cosmos, we’re sure a tee time has been booked by his North Hill Carvo golf buddies, still playing 10-cent skins.
He was loved and will be greatly missed.
