Richard Lee Osborne, Sr.

Richard Lee Osborne, Sr., 71, passed away June 30, 2017.

Rick “Oz” was born in Akron, son of Gordon and Lula (Hendricks) Osborne.  He was a U.S. Army Reserves Veteran.  Rick retired from the Tallmadge Police Department as a Lieutenant in 1996 after 25 years of service. He served as Tallmadge City Treasurer and Director of Administration for the City of Tallmadge, he also served as the NYE County Manager in NYE County, NV.

While employed with the Tallmadge Police Department, Rick was the Accreditation Manager and led the Tallmadge Police Department to international accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

One of Ricks proudest accomplishments was obtaining his Private Pilot’s License and logging many hours flying his plane.

Rick was a very successful businessman, owning several small businesses, including The Donut Station, The Anchor Inn, The Wine Peddler. He and his son Rick Jr. were business partners owning ROSBO Enterprises and ROSBO Rebuilders.

Rick’s greatest happiness was sharing time with his family and friends, and his pugs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lula Osborne, and brothers Eugene Osborne and Gary Osborne.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Carol; chidren, Daniel Osborne of Akron, Richard L. Osborne, Jr. (Sarah Christine) of Walkersville, WV, Debra Hymes (David) of Ravenna, Angelique Osborne of Uniontown, Colleen Pulsford of The Woodlands, TX, Meredith Pulsford of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dean Pulsford of Kent, OH; sister, Bonnie Lantz; five grandchildren, Carly Boyer, Cody Osborne, Samantha Osborne, Richard Lee Osborne, III, Kaden Osborne and his Pugs, Brody and Bentley.

His family and friends will miss him dearly.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13,2017 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge Ohio (On Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral Service will be at 11 am Friday, July 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
