A SONG IS A MEMORY...     Shaun Ferrell·Friday, November 4, 2016

A song is a memory; you and a stranger can share, From a time in your life when you had different hair, When the clothes you wore, were not the same, And Friday nights were about football games, You know every word, as if they were your own, And you played it when you were getting stoned, Or maybe it told someone how you felt Back when you wore a studded belt, Or a flannel shirt tied around your waist, When you first learned how a beer did taste, Or maybe when you had your first smoke, While hanging out and telling jokes, About some things that you didn’t get Way back then, and still haven’t yet Before your life was full of regret And all of the things, you would rather forget Well the artist had some regrets too, And they were singing about those regrets to you, To let you know, that they had moved on, And to heal the pain, they wrote that song
