William Raymond Dineen, 89, passed away April 17, 2018. He was born in Akron in 1928 to the late James Leo and Marie Dineen.
He attended Springfield High School, John Carroll University, and served in the U.S. Navy. Bill spent his early career traveling in pursuit of high-tech engineering jobs. He then founded Dineen Enterprises, Inc., a technical staffing firm; and was also a patent-holding inventor. Bill loved being on the water. As a young man, “Wildcat Willie” raced outboard boats and even won the Canadian Nationals in 1959. In retirement, he delighted in fishing off his pleasure boat up in Sandusky. Bill also enjoyed gardening, always waiting the first tomatoes and corn each summer. He was active in the Democratic Party for many years and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marlene; children, Angela, Natalie, Billy (Kathy) and Jamie (Joann); granddaughters, Megan (Johnny), Caroline and Alexia; great-granddaughter, Aubree; and brother, James.
Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave, Tallmadge with Rev. Michael Matusz officiating.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
