Ada "Betty" Elizabeth Keel passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in the loving home of her son and daughter-in-law in North Carolina.
Betty was born to Sarah and John Kelly on August 12, 1926, in Akron, raised in North Hill, and worked as a typist at BF Goodrich. She married Richard Keel, the love of her life in 1948, and settled in as a busy wife and mother. Betty was an active member of Tallmadge United Methodist Church, where she especially enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a resourceful cook on many rainy family camping trips. Betty was also an excellent seamstress. Her stuffed Zippys were a popular item in the University of Akron bookstore during the 1980's.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Richard; son, Kevin; and brother, John.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Pam); daughter, Holly Rogers (John); grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel), Nathan, Emma (D'Alo), Abigail, Lillia Keel; Alan (Hana), Jordan (Devin), Owen (Daina) Rogers; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family is truly grateful for the circle of neighbors whose care and attention allowed Betty to remain in her Tallmadge home that she loved so much for as long as possible.
Visitation will be 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
