He retired as Deputy Director of payroll systems for the U.S. Navy Finance Center in Cleveland after 26 years of service. His leadership and supervisory skills earned him the Department of the Navy's Superior Civilian Service award. After retirement, he enjoyed teaching driver's education to area high school students and he volunteered as a tax counselor for AARP for many years. Special thanks to the nurses and staff in ICU at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital for their compassionate care. Calling hours are Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 N. Main Street (corner of York and Main), Akron. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Norm Douglas officiating.
