Albert "Al" Shannon

Albert Shannon, 84, passed away June 14, 2023. Born July 24, 1938 in Republic, Pennsylvania, he had lived in Mogadore since 1961.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luigi and Margaret Sciamanna; brothers, Tony (Anna), Guerino (Jennie); sisters, Josephine, Mary (Skip) and Louise (Ted).

Albert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alyce; sons, Mark (Samantha), Greg (Jennifer), Steve (Leslie); grandchildren, Nate, Zach, Summer, Matthew, Jack, Skyler, Max; brother, John (Betty); many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Al served in the Army Reserves and retired from Hostess Cake in 1993 with 30 years of service, where he was named Salesman of the Year in 1975.. He was a proud member of the Mogadore Lions Club since 1975 where he held both Secretary and Treasurer positions during his 48 years of service to the Village of Mogadore. Al was part of the Mogadore Wildcats Friday night football Chain Gang for 40 years and also Mogadore Youth Football Booster Club President for over 10 years. He also received the Mogadore Schools O.H. Somers Service Award in 2001.

Al spent his retirement years traveling with Alyce and their close friends. They went on 70 cruises and countless trips to Mexico. He was a huge fan of Mogadore Athletics and rarely missed any games. He loved watching his sons and his grandchildren participate in all their sports and activities. Al was a selfless man whose focus was family, hard work, and giving back to his community. He will be greatly missed by all who had an opportunity to spend time with him.

The family would like to thank the staff at Falls Village for their wonderful care of Al this past year.

Cremation has taken place and there is no viewing or service.

A celebration of life may take place at a later date.
