Alta Joann (Brooks) Shepherd

Alta Joann Shepherd, 79, passed away August 23, 2016.  She was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia in 1937, moving to Akron in 1957 and living in Tallmadge for the last seveal years.

She was a 1955 graduate from BUHS in Buckhannon, WV, member of AARP, VFW Auxiliary #8487, American Legion Auxiliary #162 in Deerfield Beach, FL and Akron Turner Club.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Hibbs and Donald Shepherd; parents, Elmer and Maye Brooks; brothers, Dale Brooks, Jack Brooks, Estel "Shorty" Brooks; sister, Betty Dye.

Alta is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hibbs; step daughters, Donna (John) Westren, Karen (Brock) Baughman; step grandchildren, Johnathon and Laura Westren, Brock and Haylee Baughman; and many many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday August 30, 2016 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle)

Funeral service will be at 2:00 following the visitation with Rev. Bernard Christy officiating.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.

Family and friends can gather after the burial at the Akron Turner Club, 547 Munroe Falls Road, Tallmadge Ohio.
