Althea B. (Cromie) Torisky, 92, passed away peacefully October 16, 2026.
Born in Pittsburgh, Althea and her husband Gene lived in Indiana and Ohio before settling in the Akron area. They were married for 59 years. Dad always called marrying Mom the smartest thing he ever did.
Althea's gift for music was expressed in several years of playing organ at mass. Later she sang for decades in choirs at their Our Lady of Victory Parish in Tallmadge, Ohio -- for much of that time with her children or husband.
Althea also was thrilled by her grandchildren's singing, playing instruments, and performing onstage. She was a devoted Mom, Nana, and Gigi.
Althea was preceded in death by her husband Gene; her parents, Helen and James Cromie Jr.; and her siblings, Jeannie (Martin), Patricia (Erny), Jim, Al, Bob, Judy (Swenson), and Rosemary, as well as by their spouses.
She is survived by her loving children, Gene Jr. (Theresa), Ken (Sharon Yee), Maureen Prokopius (Mike), and Mark (Melissa); her dear grandchildren, Mary Kate Goodman (Zach), Rachel, and Daniel Prokopius, Justin Torisky, Cian and Brendan Torisky, and Adam and Jamie Benjamin; and her sweet great-grandson, Theodore Goodman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Services for immediate family on October 23, with interment at Tallmadge Cemetery.
