Anthony Ciraldo

Born March 5th, 1943 in Sicily, Anthony Ciraldo was classically trained as a full-service barber. His American dream began in the 1960's when he arrived in Akron as a young man. He later moved to Cuyahoga Falls, but returned to Akron in 1975 - this time as a business owner. Even now, decades later, Ciraldo's Barber & Men's Hair is still a beloved fixture in the community of North Hill. Anyone who ever met Tony will not find this surprising: he was a generous man who inspired camaraderie and a sense of occasion wherever he went. He had a zest for life, for family, and for friends. His Sunday dinners were legendary, a house overflowing with food and laughter. His banter at the shop with fellow stylists Duke and John turned a haircut and a shave into a floorshow. Wherever he went, there was always someone he knew, someone waving hello. Only one person could match him, step for step, in life and on the dance floor - his beloved wife of 43 years, Fran. Even during the health challenges that tested their family over recent years, they remained fiercely devoted to each other and to keeping the family whole. Anthony Ciraldo passed away at Akron City Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, January 19th. He leaves behind his wife, Frances Ciraldo; son, Anthony Ciraldo Jr.; step-sons, Mark Eckman, Rick Eckman, and Bob Eckman; step-daughter, Diane Pierce; brothers, Paul Ciraldo and Lou Ciraldo; sister, Vincenza Cornacchione and their extended families. He previously lost and will be welcomed by his parents, Alfio and Nunzia Ciraldo, step-mother, Josephine Ciraldo, and step-son Mike Eckman. The family requests that you join us for calling hours at Hennessy Funeral Home at 552 N Main St. in Akron on Saturday, February 2nd, from 3 to 6 p.m. to share your memories of Tony. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 4th, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail, in Cuyahoga Falls. Lunch will be served immediately following the service.
