Audrey E. (Godfray) Peterson

Audrey E. Peterson, 92, loving wife, mother, and friend, passed away on January 22, 2025. Audrey was born on April 3, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Percy and Lillian (Marett) Godfray. She graduated from John Marshall H. S. with the love of her life, Alan. Audrey and Alan Peterson married on June 13, 1953 and had 4 wonderful children.

Audrey loved the English language and after raising her children, she went to Kent State University and got her BS in English. She loved to read a good book and to play bridge (she and Alan were card sharks). Audrey was on Tallmadge, Ohio city council as an At Large Councilperson in the 1980's. She and Alan loved to take the family camping. They were proud of how many national parks they visited. In later years, they wintered in Florida and traveled the world.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Alan; her sister, Alyce Crowe; brother, Harold Godfray; sister-in-law, Naomi Godfray; sister-in-law, Doris Vogt; and AFS Foreign Exchange Student (son), Fred Eerenberg from The Netherlands.

Left to cherish her memory are children,Cindy (Bob) Umbarger, Jeff Peterson, Kenny (Jirina) Peterson, and Cheryl Peterson; grandson, Matthew Peterson; and brother-in-law, Jack Vogt. Audrey also leaves behind David, Judy, John, Patricia and Sandra, and Yoke from The Netherlands. She was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.

Heartfelt thanks to the loving and caring staff at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, Hudson OH and the staff at Northeast Ohio Hospice for their exceptional support during her final days.

A memorial service will be at First Congregational Church, 47 Aurora St., Hudson, OH on Saturday March 1, 2025 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
