Avis Elaine Enos

Avis Elaine Enos, 90, of Tallmadge, Ohio, passed away on July 4, 2025.  She was born on September 25, 1934, in Roytown, Somerset Co., PA, to Harry and Myrtle (Hostetler) Gahring.  Avis was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, married to her beloved husband, James, for 71 years.

Avis graduated from Somerset High School in 1952.  She worked at Newbury's, Minnesota Title Co., Akron General Medical Center, O'Neil's, May Co., Kaufmann's and retired from Macy's in 2004.  A resident of Tallmadge since 1972, she was a member of the Primetimers and enjoyed walking at the Rec Center, participating in the Fall Hiking Spree, family reunions, puzzling, listening to books on tape and playing bridge with her friends.  She was room mother and den mother for both of her sons.  In later years the joys of her life were her grandchildren, always supporting them by attending their school and sports activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Myrtle Gahring; brother, Harry Jr.; sister, Betty Lou Miller.

Avis is survived by her husband, Jim; her sons, Mike (Barb) and Mark (Trish); her grandchildren, Joe, Dan, Nathan and Austin; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on July 10, 2025 at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave.  (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle) with Jim Case officiating.

Funeral service will follow at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery following the funeral service.
