Barbara Irene Likens

Barbara Irene Likens, 72, passed away on September 15, 2026. Born in Akron, Ohio, Barbara lived most of her life in the Akron and Cuyahoga Falls area.

Barbara was one of the strongest women you could ever meet. She always had a cheerful disposition, loved to laugh, and had a beautiful heart. She was a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother, and a cherished friend.

Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. They lovingly called her “Gam,” and the sun would rise and set over them. She treasured every moment with them and the memories they shared will live on in their hearts.

Barbara was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and deeply loved her brothers and sisters in the congregation. She also loved watching birds and enjoying nature. She found beauty in the simple things and brought warmth and joy to those around her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Barbara Phillips, and her daughter, Emily Sklarek.

She is survived by her daughter, Shawna Likens; son, Isaiah Likens; son-in-law, Jason Sklarek; grandchildren, Madison Williams, Jon Sklarek (fiancée, Ari Luna), Annabelle Sklarek, Kennedy Flinta, James Fox, and Cale Likens; great-grandchild, Abra Williams; sister, Bonita Schmidt; brother, Bryan (Cheri) Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and beloved brothers and sisters in the congregation.

Barbara will be remembered for her strength, laughter, faith, and beautiful heart. Most of all, she will be remembered as Gam—a woman who loved her family deeply and left them with memories and love that will last forever.

Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3806 State Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
