Barbara Long

Barbara Long, 85, passed away January 1, 2018.

Born in Akron, Barbara had lived most of her life in the Akron area.  She retired in 1991 from Cleveland Public Schools with nine years of service. Barbara attended Randolph United Methodist Church.

She was an accomplished educator and proud mother. Although she held much pride in her teaching career, it did not come close to the amount of pride she took in the beautiful family she raised.  Barbara was called to serve her family following a tragedy with her son Russ.  She took care of Russ for 21 years until the Lord made him her angel.  She was a woman of faith who thanked God each day for the amazing family she had.

She was preceded in death by her son, J. Russell Long; parents, James and Edna (Thorne) Goins; and brother, Jack Goins.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Elaine Markey, Janice Kelly, and Beth (Joe) Ferrante; sons, Dan (Ruth) Long, Phillip (Deena) Long, John Long, and Jim Long; 24 grandchildren;22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. Tallmadge.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor John Knepper officiating.

Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
