Obituary

Bernadine Nevitt, 94, passed away on October 10, 2017 in Henderson, Nevada. She was born in Akron, Ohio on July 2, 1923 to Antonio and Teresa Smanto. She graduated from North High School in Akron in 1940. She was employed by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 30 years in the Real Estate Department, and she retired in 1988. Bernadine was a very kind and gentle person. She was very devoted to her family. She lived on North Hill in Akron and in Tallmadge for 86 years before moving in 2009 to live with her sons in Henderson, Nevada due to health reasons. Church was very important in her life. Bernadine was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ on North Main Street since the 1950's. She had been a Sunday school teacher there. She was a longtime member of the Tallmadge Garden Club. She really loved gardening and yard work. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, feeding and watching wild birds, doing crossword puzzles, and eating at Parasson's Italian Restaurant. She was a very avid fan of all Cleveland sports teams and especially loved the Browns and LeBron James of the Cavs. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Robert Nevitt; and by her brother, Joseph Smanto. She is survived by her two sons, Harry Kolody and Michael Kolody, both of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Whitney of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; brother-in-law, Warren Whitney of Cuyahoga Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron, with Pastor David Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.
