Bob Charton

Robert Charton passed away June 2, 2015 after a long courageous battle with Cancer.  Bob was born January 5, 1938 in Bolivar, Ohio to Margaret and George Charton.  He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1956 and Heidelberg College in 1960.  He met his loving wife Janice (Watkins) of 53 years while in College and they were married in 1961.  Bob began a 43 year career at Norton Performance Plastics, where he retired as Director of Research and Development.  In 2002, Bob was inducted into the Society of Plastics Engineers Hall of Honor.  Bob and Jan settled in Tallmadge, Ohio in 1964 where they lived and raised their family.

Bob loved to spend time with his Family, Friends, neighbors, and his Church, Bethany United Church of Christ.  He served as Church School Superintendent for 25 years, Deacon, Elder and Consistory President.  He loved his Church family.   Bob loved his Football, he served as Youth Football Director, Tallmadge High School Booster Club President and a member of the Football Chain Crew for 25 years.  In addition to Football, Bob loved playing golf with his buddies, traveling with family and supporting the local sports teams….Go Blue Devils and Zips.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Daryl (Suzanne) Charton of Carmel, Indiana and Robert G. (Susan) Charton of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Garrett, Allie, Maddie, Ian, Danielle, and Marissa; brother, James (Connie) Charton of Bolivar.

Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Monday June 8, 2015 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls with Pastor Andrew Courtney officiating.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ.
