Bradley James Henry

June 19, 1948 — January 22, 2023

Cuyahoga Falls

Bradley James Henry, 74, passed away January 22, 2023. Born in Akron, he graduated from East High School in 1966. He lived briefly in Brunswick, Georgia while serving in the Navy, and later settled in Cuyahoga Falls, where he lived the rest of his life.

Following high school graduation, Brad enlisted in the United States Navy. He received United States Navy technical training in electronics and electricity at Portsmouth, VA; Great Lakes, IL; and Memphis, TN and became an electronics technician working on radar and cryptographic communications systems. Brad sailed on the USS Shadwell and USS Chilton before ending his service as an instructor at Naval Air Technical Training Center in Glynco, Georgia.

As a civilian, Brad worked as software and electronics engineer at Steelastic, GenCorp and Tech Pro, Inc. Highlights of his professional career include helping design and develop an "optical rebound tester" apparatus for improving quality control of tennis and racquet balls, and being a named inventor on two patents.  At various times throughout his career, he also ran his own consulting firm, T.C.S. Technical Consulting Service.

A long-suffering Cleveland sports fan, he especially enjoyed following the Guardians and the Cavaliers. He loved to tinker with electronics and he could fix just about anything. Throughout his life, Brad found happiness and friendship through singing, including in high school musicals, as a member of the Navy's Blue Jacket Choir, and late in life at local karaoke bars, where he was known to use the moniker "B-rad." Most of all he loved being with his family, hosting cookouts, and spending time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Olive Henry; wife, Glenda; and daughter, Julie.

Brad is survived by his daughter, Karen (David) Vincente; son, Steve (Wendy Mann) Henry; brother, Bill (Taunah) Henry; sister, Joyce (Ed) Selzer; and granddaughters, Allison and Kaitlyn.
