Caretta L. (Payne) Streby

September 8, 1934 — September 12, 2025

Cuyahoga Falls

Caretta L. Streby, 91, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025. She was born in Blue Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and spent most of her life in the Cuyahoga Falls area.

Caretta worked as a legal secretary before her retirement, but her life's true work was her family. As the beloved matriarch, she embodied strength, dignity, and grace. She was witty, fun, and welcoming — a woman whose home was always open and whose heart made room for everyone. For many years, she hosted an annual family pig roast, a tradition that brought generations together and reflected her love of gathering people around her table.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Dorothy Payne; her beloved husband, Leroy Streby; her sister, Rena; and her son, Rick L. Bever.

Caretta is survived by her sons Keith (Wanda) A. Bever, Gregory (Barb) Bever Sr., and David (Mary) Bever; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Dottie; her nieces and nephews; and countless lifelong friends and new friends who became like family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unity that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her light and love will be missed by everyone.
