Carol (Purdy) Carothers

Carol K Carothers, age 85 of Tallmadge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022. Carol was born on July 21, 1936 in Cadiz, Ohio. She was raised in Harrisville, Ohio. Carol graduated in 1957 from Ohio Valley School of Nursing in Wheeling, West Virginia as an RN.

She worked for 25 years as a psych nurse at Akron General Medical Center. In August of 1957, Carol also married her high school sweetheart, Myron Carothers. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Carol was an active member of Chapel Hill Church for over 50 years until her illness did not allow her to attend in person anymore. Over the years Carol taught Sunday School classes, and she along with Myron spent years working with the college and career age group. Carol also donated her time and talents to counseling women of all ages. She was a volunteer at the pregnancy crisis center in downtown Akron for many years. Carol led Bible Studies for women in her home as she enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus with others. Carol also enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping and spending time with her family. Her life was a wonderful example of kindness and grace.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Hilda Purdy and her brother Keith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, Myron Carothers; children, Bret (Ekhlas) Carothers, Dena (Bill) Earnsberger, and grandchildren, Chad & Alyssa Haidet and Brian Carothers. She will be greatly missed by all.

We would like to thank Green Village Skilled and Rehabilitation Center for the care of Carol as well as Crossroads Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Friday May 20, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave, (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21,2022 at Chapel Hill Church, 1160 Howe Road, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Pastor James McHugh and James Berens officiating.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapel Hill Church.
