Carol Anne
(Coburn) Kraszewski
October 22, 1938 – January 18, 2025
Carol Anne Kraszewski, 86, died peacefully at the Village of St. Edward in Fairlawn surrounded by her family on January 18, 2025. She was born on October 22, 1938, in Akron to the late William & Bertha (Davis) Coburn and she lived all of her life in the area. Carol graduated from Akron Garfield High School in 1956. She worked as a telephone operator, and later as a secretary in International Sales for General Tire Co. Carol moved to being a stay at home and when children grew older, she returned to work as a receptionist and secretary, retiring from the medical office of Dr. Manley Ford, M.D.
Carol enjoyed volunteering and serving her community as an active member of Christ the King Parish, active in the Altar & Rosary Society, working on the parish bulletin, as a catechist for CCD, tutoring in the school, and helping with funeral lunches. She worked as a poll worker on election days.
Carol was a great cook and an excellent baker, known for her cookies, pies, and pastries. When she retired she collected all of the family recipes into a family cookbook and it was mentioned in the Food section of the Akron Beacon Journal and led to an appearance on That's Life on Fox 8. She enjoyed music and later in life took up piano and banjo lessons. Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband Gene and their friends and many bus trips. Carol enjoyed bowling and her grandchildren will remember the Christmas holiday bowling parties.
Carol was a woman of faith, a great role model for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was more recently a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Eugene Kraszewski; brothers, Michael Coburn, and Alexander Coburn, her son-in-law Serafino Piermarini. Carol survived by her children, Rev. Thomas Kraszewski, Karen Piermarini, Kathy (Joe) Rinaldi, Christopher (Sarah) Kraszewski; grandchildren; Mariette (Joe)Vitti, Serafino (Brittany) Piermarini, Christopher (April) Piermarini, Pellegrino (Hallie) Piermarini, Domenico Piermarini and his fiancée Felicity, Jennifer Rinaldi, Nicholas Rinaldi, Julia Rinaldi, William Kraszewski; great-grandchildren; Rosalina, and Joseph Vitti; Ildiko, Sopheia, and Giada Piermarini; Domenico, and Isabella Piermarini; Serafina, and Matteo Piermarini; her sisters Colleen (Edward) Boggs, Margie (David) Dunbar; and her sister-in-laws, Sally Coburn, and Doris Coburn, and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Monday, January 27th at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Pl., Akron, OH. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm Sunday, January 26th at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St. Akron, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to The Village of St. Edward, 3131 Smith Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333.
