Carol Lynn (Crislip) Salter

December 2, 1951 — May 4, 2025

Tallmadage

Carol Lynn (Crislip) Salter, a lifelong resident of Tallmadge, Ohio, entered eternal glory on May 4th, 2025. Carol would also claim part-time residency at her cherished log cabin in Canada, lovingly referred to as her "Golden Pond."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Ruth Crislip, longtime Tallmadge residents who spent their later years in Holiday, Florida, and by her beloved in-laws, Burtis and Evelyn Salter of Hartville, Ohio, whom she embraced as her own.

Carol is survived by her loving husband Glenn of 54 years. Theirs was a love to be envied. She is also survived by her son, Justin Salter of Papillion, NE, and his wife Aimee, and four grandchildren, Karly (Salter) and Reed Haught, Hannah (Salter) and Gavin Meloy, Gavin Salter, Olivia Salter, Great Grandson Myles Meloy, sister-in law Connie (Salter) and Noel Dahlander, brother-in-law Tim and Gay Salter, and her brother Scott and Jil Crislip.

Carol attended primary and secondary education in Tallmadge and graduated from THS in 1970. She excelled in Art, which she pursued as her passion at Kent State where she was awarded a BA with a major in Fine Arts in 1978. After graduation, Carol pursued her other passion, teaching. This started her life-long career of educating hundreds of children in public and parochial schools, mostly 5th and 6th graders, in which she brought history to life and other subjects that she taught. Carol taught for 27 years and retired from Annunciation-St Johns in Akron, Ohio in 2012.

Carol attended The Chapel where Glenn ushered like Carol's dad had done years before him. She had her specific "reserved" seat in the balcony that the other ushers well knew.

Carol saw art in everything she did. Her beloved home in which she designed a complete makeover right down to the color of cedar shake shingles...her home was decorated throughout with her artwork (although much of her art is concealed in portfolios that were rarely shared) ...her beautiful flower gardens in Tallmadge and Canada would rival many arboretums with multi-seasonal bursts of color...her cabin built by her grandfather in 1950 was also transformed by her vision and care without losing its original essence. Carol inherited her love of flowers and gardening from her grandma (Mary Susan) Crislip, her best friend, throughout her life.

Her fingerprints are all over everything she touched, but mostly the lives of her family and those fortunate to be considered her friends. We will all miss her every day...until we join her in heaven, may God hold you in his arms until then.

Respecting Carol's wishes, her celebration of life will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank at https://www.akroncantonfoodbank.org .
