Carroll D. Wooster, age 99, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 6, 2025.
Carroll eagerly anticipated being reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Doris, and cherished daughter, Nancy (Wooster) Varley. His deep faith and enduring love for his family were the foundation of his long and fulfilling life.
Born on February 1, 1926, in Canton, Pennsylvania, Carroll was the son of the late Merle and Lillian Wooster. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Wooster, Jack Wooster, Janette (Wooster) Gilliam, and Sheila (Wooster) Sievers.
Carroll deeply loved his family and treasured the memories they created together. He will be dearly missed by his daughters Carol Ann (Dennis) MacFarland and Beverly (Earl) MacFarland; his son-in-law Peter Varley; his grandchildren Brian (Shannon) MacFarland, Carrie (John) Morgan, Kevin (Leslie) MacFarland, Lori Dailey, Amy (Brian) Cooper, and Richard MacFarland; great-grandchildren Carissa (Stephen) Shipman, Kyle MacFarland, Lily and Owen Dailey, Samuel and Maya Cooper, Jack and Allison Morgan, Ben and Alex MacFarland, and Brentyn Goudin; and great-great-grandchildren Blakely and Colton Shipman.
Carroll graduated from high school in 1944 . He joined the US Navy and served honorably during World War II. After his military service, he worked at Taylor Winfield Corporation in Warren, Ohio, dedicating 37 years before retiring. In 1956, Carroll and his family moved to Ohio, where they made their home in Southington and Warren for many decades before he relocated to Kent in 2014.
Carroll was a committed Mason for over 60 years as a member of Old Erie Lodge #3, Free and Accepted Masons in Warren. He also served in the Ali Baba Grotto for over 50 years, holding the role of Monarch in 1967. He was President of the Ohio Grotto Association from 1981–1982 and served 12 years as Grand Trustee of the Supreme Council of the Grottos of North America, later being honored as Grand Trustee Emeritus. Additionally, he was a 32nd-degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown, and a proud member of the American Legion Post #751 in Southington for more than 50 years..
Carroll found joy in sharing stories with fellow veterans and never missed an opportunity to mention that he was 99 years old. He was a warm, kind, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose legacy will live on in those who knew and loved him.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Victoria DiGennaro and Amanda B. for their compassionate care over the past several years.
A celebration of Carroll's life will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church Kent, 600 S. Water St., Kent, OH 44240.
Masonic Service: 12:45 p.m.
Calling Hours: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m.
A private burial with full military honors will be held at Pineview Memorial Cemetery in Warren, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church - Kent Music Ministies.
