Charles J. Vardon

Charles (Chuck) J. Vardon, 82, died on December 4, 2020 after a long illness.

He was born on August 15, 1938 to the late Guito and Cornelia Vardon. A lifelong resident of Akron, he graduated from Central Hower High School, attended Walsh College and he served in the US Navy.  In 1991 he retired as a Supervisor at East Ohio Gas. He was one of the founders of the Ellet Athletic Association and President of the Ellet Baseball League. Charles was a parishioner at St. Matthew Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy; sons, Charles Vardon of Akron, James (Lisa) Vardon of Massillon; daughter, Michele (Alfred) Scaglione of Uniontown, and grandchildren, Anthony, Nicolette, and Callie Vardon, Giulia and Gillian Scaglione. He also leaves behind sister, Rosemarie (Jacque) Brittain of Cuyahoga Falls; brother, Ronald Vardon of Akron, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

The family would like to thank Summa Hospice and Heather Knoll Nursing Facility for their exceptional care.

Because we cannot gather at this time, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Thursday December 10, 2020.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Church, 2603 Benton Ave, Akron, Ohio 44312. The service will be live streamed on facebook at Donovan Bagnoli Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 11:00 a.m.
