Christina Fanizzi, 82, passed away on July 15, 2015 after a short illness. She was born in Akron and graduated from North High School. She was a member of the M.S.C. ladies Italian auxilary and a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church. "Mama" will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her amazing cooking (no one makes pasta like her) and wonderful sense of humor.

Preceded in death by her husband, Nick Fanizzi, son, Nicky Fanizzi Jr, brother, Frank Fanizzi and sister, Marge Parise, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Rita McInvale; son, Tony Fanizzi (Loretta); 6 grandchildren, Nikki Fanizzi, Angela Fanizzi (Owen Jones), Gary Smith Jr (Marnia), Chrissy Fanizzi, Stacy Smith (Robert Alvarado), and Toni Fanizzi; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Frisone (Lienzy); brother, Mike Fanizzi; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Monday, at Blessed Trinity Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave. Akron.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 pm, Sunday, at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the funeral home.
