IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clara "Nonni"
(Dimengo) Masiella
November 28, 1922 – November 26, 2017
Clara "Nonni" Masiella (Dimengo) A promise was made a promise was kept. Clara was born November 28, 1922 and went home to God on November 26, 2017. She was born on Collinwood Ave. in North Hill. The first of five children born to Italian Immigrants Santa and Carlo Dimengo. Clara was raised with traditional Italian values and was a devout and devoted Catholic all her life. Throughout Clara's life she faced many challenges and relied on her faith and trust in God to over come them. She prayed the rosary daily, attended church and said her novena's faithfully. In 1950 she married Frank J. Masiella and moved to the Ellet area. Frank and Clara owned and operated the Rubber Bowl Cafe on Triplett Blvd. an East Akron land mark in the 1950's, 60's and early 70's. Known for fine food and live entertainment, the Rubber Bowl Cafe was a favorite among Akron's Rubber Worker's and sports fans attending various events at the Rubber Bowl Stadium. The Akron Summit County Public Library included the Rubber Bowl Cafe in it's 2015 display of Golden Age Restaurants of which she was very proud. After her husbands passing in 1972 she volunteered at St. Thomas Hospital and various Catholic churches in the Akron area. Clara was a long time supporter of St. Jude Hospital and many Catholic charities.
