Clarabelle (Grubaugh) Nelson

Clarabelle Nelson, 89, passed away on July 2, 2021.

Born in Akron, Clarabelle lived in the Tallmadge area most of her life. She worked as a bookkeeper at Standard Mortgage in the early years of her life before retiring and starting her family. Clarabelle was a strong and inspirational woman who was there for anyone. She took care of her family and neighbors, as well as those she met volunteering at the Haven of Rest. Clarabelle also taught Sunday School at the Akron Baptist Temple and preschool at Tallmadge Congregational Church. She was a great cook and baker. Everyone loved her baklava. She was a very dedicated room mother and always had time to play with the kids and would take them to the parks and on picnics. She was a great mother to everyone.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fred; parents, Kenny and Jessie Grubaugh; and brothers, Russ, Bill, Karl, and Mel.

She is survived by her son, Dave; sister-in-heart, Patti; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7th at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. Tallmadge, OH with funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. with Rev. Larry Knight officiating.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park
