Clifford (Jack) Gron

May 10, 1933 — January 3, 2016

Clifford (Jack) Gron passed away peacefully January 3, 2016 of Myelofibrosis.

He was born in Akron on May 10, 1933.  Jack graduated from Garfield High School in Akron in 1951.  He served as 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army, Armored Division and was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co with 41 years of service.  Jack was a member of Adonirom Lodge #517 F&AM for over 50 years and attended First Congregational Church of Tallmadge serving on many boards and was church treasurer.  He and wife Shirley celebrated 60 years of marriage in April.  They enjoyed their many adventures traveling together, along with Metro Park hikes, golfing, and getting together with family and friends.  Jack's passion and love was for his family and friends and a clean car.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Goldie Gron; sisters, Ethel, Catherine, Jean and Jane.

Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Kim Gron-Carlson; son, Mike (Sherry) Gron; grandchildren, Nichole Carlson (Mitch), David Carlson, Mark Soppi, Jr., and Nick Soppi; great grandson, Jayce Roberts; sister, Helen Cox; brother in law, Dan (Andrea) Markwood, and so many loving nieces and nephews, along with the circle of very special friends and caring neighbors - you all know who you are.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bachtel and Dr. Koenig and the wonderful staff at Cooper Cancer Center, and on Summa seven east.

Much appreciation to all the many blood and platelet donors.

A Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Dr., Tallmadge with Rev. Dr. John Schluep officiating.  Visitation will be immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Columbarium Gardens at First Congregational Church of Tallmadge or Summa Cooper Cancer Center, 161 N. Forge St., Akron, OH  44304.
