IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daisy Teresa
(Marchio) Tomei
October 11, 1922 – November 1, 2015
Daisy Teresa (Marchio) Tomei 93 years of age Born October 11, 1922 Died November 1, 2015
Daisy was born October 11, 1922, In Mount Hope, West Virginia, to Jack and Vicenza Marchio. After her father's death in 1944, she and her mother moved to Akron where she landed her first job at FirestoneTire and Rubber Company. Due to the war effort (as well as her physical stature) Daisy became a "Rosie the Riveter." After the war Daisy met the love of her life, Victor. They later married in St. Martha Church on July 4th, 1946.
Daisy was active in church, involving herself in the Altar and Rosary Society, School Reading programs as well as youth projects for the grade school children. For 23 years, Daisy was involved with the Cub Scout programs at St. Martha's Grade School.
Daisy's passion for animals could easily rival St. Francis of Assisi. No matter what four or sometimes two-legged critter would show at the doorstep, Daisy would take it in, feed, and care for the unfortunate beast.
However, the gift this little woman obtained was the ability to cook for an entire regiment. Daisy never believed in feeding anyone small portions when it came to preparing a meal. When St. Martha's celebrated their summer carnival, Daisy would fix and prepare pizza for the entire function. On many occasions, after St.Vincent-St. Mary home football games, the senior football players and with her son, Provie, would meet at the house while, Daisy would fix pizza for all of them. Daisy, having raised two boys was thrilled to have three granddaughters to enjoy and teach the finer art of cooking. Gina, Emily and Megan, whom she was so proud of, were the loves of her life.
Daisy was a loving, giving, nurturing person, who will be truly missed. She will now join her soulmate Victor (1998) where they will join hands together and again witness their love of each other in the eternal light of our Heavenly Father.
Daisy is preceded in death by her loving husband Victor, father (Jack), mother (Vicenza), sisters (Virginia, Mary, Teresa), brothers (Edward, Frank, Andy, Provie), sisters-in-law Angelina Colella, Lena Tomei, Margaret Marchio and brother-in-law John Tomei.
Daisy is survived by her sons Victor J. (Jo-Ann), Provie (Susan), granddaughters, Gina (Chris) Cox and Emily and Megan Tomei, brother-in-law, Joseph Tomei, Armando Colella, sister-in-law Katherine Tomei, brother and sister- in- law Fred and Louise Tomei.
