Dana "Danny" Edward Tustin, 60, passed away March 14, 2016. He was born in Akron and lived all his life in the area.
Danny was born to Dorothy and Edward Tustin. He loved his mom and held her on a pedestal. He enjoyed talking about his dad to his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of his dad's baseball, fishing, and archery skills. He often shared stories of the time he spent with his dad on the West Coast. Danny's sister Vicki was his best friend through thick and thin. He loved her children, Lori, Jason, Rebecca and Sarah. He never forgot his baby sister, Jean Marie. He would go to his little brother George's baseball games and brag about him to those nearby. His stepfather, George Sr., was a good man and Danny was grateful for the love and support George Sr. gave him and how he doted on Danny's children. He spoke lovingly of his sister Dondi, all of her children, and Dondi's mom Caye. His Aunt Mary and Uncle Dick were always good to him. He felt very lucky and blessed to have so many wonderful people cross his path and he wanted all of them to know that.
He married Valyra in the 70's and he was so thrilled to have a son. They named him Christopher. Christopher and his beautiful wife Melissa have 2 precious little girls. He enjoyed talking to Val's mom (Vonda) and his brother-in law (Randall). Growing up he had many friends, too many to name. There was of course the Blasdels: Michael, Casey, Connie, Jeanee, Janet, David, Steve, Matt, Chris, and his beloved Patrick. Ken and Betty treated him like a son. He always missed Mark Jones; he and Patrick enjoyed playing guitar together with Mark. The stories from his youth included Mike Young, Tim, Willie, Marvin, Marleen, Billy Caley, Danny Bears, Mr. Montgomery who took him in and took care of him and his sons Danny and David; Roy, Rick Russ, Joey, Jill and Pam. There were many Cutlips and he was just like one of them. He cherished his friendship with Mark who would always check in on Danny. He loved Randy, Bud, John, David, Tom, and their little sister. He married Lisa and doted on his children John and Rita. He had a step-daughter, Rachel, who he loved as his own. He had so many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ann, Joe, Lynn, Brian, Kevin, and Chris. He had so many nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with Melissa and Paul. He often smiled remembering Dorene, the babysitter of his children and her sister Debbie. He had a girlfriend Rosa in his younger days and she helped to take care of his kids. His stepmom, Dolly, was always so kind to him. His nephew and nieces Jason, Rebecca and Sarah brought him lots of joy and he enjoyed playing guitar with their dad Dana. His sister-in-law Kim and her wonderful daughter Jackie were also his family and he loved his nephew George III. He respected and loved his grandma Eva and grandpa Claude. His Aunts and Uncles, Audrey, Emery, Margie, Bob, and his cousins, Karla, Debbie, Ronnie, Wally, Rick, and Sandy. There is not enough space to say how much he loved his Uncle Butch. He cared so much about his Aunt Chris and his cousins, Angie and Andy. His mom's siblings were part of his world, Uncle Marvin, Aunt Donna, and his cousins Russell, John, Lucy and Tracy; Uncle Ray, his cousin Terri and his step kids Judy, Jack, and Jim; Uncle Jean and Aunt Maggie and his cousins Bradley, Margret, James and Greg. Danny was excited when his friend Patrick and his wife Yvette had a little girl named Erica because they both had daughters at the same time and he hoped they would be friends. Patrick had another daughter Christina and he loved Christina and was close to her mom Pam. Danny married Cheryl and they enjoyed a long life together. Her children, Jennifer and Paul Michael, were like his own. His sister-in-law Mary and Cheryl's mom were always there for the family. He had 14 grandchildren and each one was precious to him. He considered Jenny and Paul Michael's father, Paul Cole, a good friend. He had great respect for veterans which included his uncles, father-in-law and Paul Cole.
He was proud to be one of the first employees of Nick DiCello's when Nick started Ohio State Home Services. Danny took great pride in his work and his work was always quality. He would always reminisce about working with Nick, Bob, John, Harry and everyone else. He took that same pride to B-Dry where he worked with the Cutlips. He had good times with all of his co-workers at B-Dry and cared for each one. He so much appreciated Arlene. If it weren't for her 1995 van, he wouldn't have been able to get to work, get to the doctors, or get to see all of his family and friends. He was even grateful to the Norton police for helping him and his family during his final illness. All of his doctors, nurses and social workers at Summa were very important to Danny and he was very grateful for the care that he received. He was grateful for his homecare visits from Dawn, Lori Z., Janice, and Lori. They gave him comfort and company when he was most in need. Danny was very smart and passed on much wisdom and love to his children. He always felt very rich with friends and family and lucky to have a good life. He loved animals throughout his life and always had a pet at his side. He will be missed every single day by his family and friends; and those who have gone before him are surely partying with him now. We are sorry if we missed anyone. Danny talked about so many people that brightened his life.
Danny worked for over 25 years at B-Dry.
He is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Dittmer and step father George Dittmer.
