Dannie F Hysell

Dannie F. (Dan) Hysell, age 71, passed away on Friday September 22, 2023 surrounded by family at Hospice of Medina County after a short battle with Cancer.

Dan was born October 8, 1951, in Ravenna, Ohio. He was the son of the late Dannie F. and Romain (Utterdyke) Hysell. Dan lived all his life in Ravenna and the surrounding area. He was devoted to his three sons, and lived by his creed, "we might not be rich, but we are rich in love". As such, he raised his boys to know the importance of camping, fishing, and hunting. Upon his retirement from the City of Ravenna, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and frequenting yard sales with his wife of 38 years.

Dan is survived by his wife, Christine (Shull) Hysell; his sons and their spouses: Thomas and Crystal Hysell, Tyler and Danielle Hysell, Jacob and Brittany Hysell; his grandsons, Logan, Mason, and Ayden Hysell; and his granddaughters, Lydia, and Olivia Hysell.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dannie F. and Romain Hysell and his brother, Kim W. Hysell.

Cremation has taken place, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Parish, 2603 Benton Ave, Akron, with Father Mike Williamson, celebrant. The family will receive friends and family 30 minutes prior to the Mass.

Private burial at Hillside West Cemetery, Randolph will follow later. In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made in his memory to Friends of West Branch, an organization of volunteers furthering youth programs and experience at West Branch State Park. A great deal of our fondest memories we hold for our father took place during the weeks we spent camping at West Branch each year. The family would like to thank Hospice of Western Reserve for their excellent care of Dan in his last days.
