Donald W. Black, 89, of Manchester, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017.
He was born February 15, 1927 in Wooster, Ohio to the late Howard and Stella Black, was a graduate of Wooster High School, and served in the U.S. Navy. He lived most of his life in the Akron area and retired as a bricklayer from Local No.7. He was also a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, and was a lifelong artist painting with watercolors.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Marilyn; son, Marc; and brothers, Leonard and Robert.
He is survived his by son, Jeffrey (Deborah) Black of Akron; grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael Black; niece, Diane (Jim) Bray; great niece, Jody Roosa; great nephews, Jamie, Pat and Beau Bray; and several great great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at The Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle)
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Francis De Sales Parish, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44319. Procession to form at the church.
Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
