Donald J Hollendonner

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald (Donnie) John Hollendonner, who passed away on July 20, 2026. Donald was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, a devoted father and grandfather, and a man whose greatest joys were found in the outdoors, on the water and in the skies.

Donald proudly served his country, carrying the values of honor, integrity, and dedication with him throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who found peace and happiness in nature. Whether casting a line at sunrise, spending time exploring the woods, or sitting toes in the sand watching the waves, he felt at home outdoors. He embraced every opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty around him. This adventurous spirit led him to also earn his captain's license, allowing him to spend countless hours on the water, and he loved sharing those experiences with family and friends.

In addition to this, Donald loved to build and fix things. Cars, ATV’s, buildings, electrical,he loved to tinker with and fix it all. He found the end result of something great from something not extremely satisfying. He could fix just about anything and loved all things fast.

Although Donald grew up in Portage County, Ohio, He traveled and lived in many places, where he built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. He will be remembered for his adventurous heart, sense of humor, and the love he shared with his family. 

Donald is survived by his sons, John Joseph Hollendonner ("Joey") and Ryan Hollendonner (and wife Maddie). His grandchildren; Preston, Alayna, and Allyson. All of whom brought him great joy. He is also survived by his father, John Hollendonner (and his wife, Donna); his mother, Peggy Hall; his brother, Scott Hollendonner (and wife Michelle); his beloved niece and nephews, Michael, Megan, and Mathew.

Donald leaves behind a legacy of service, adventure, and devotion to his family. Though he has taken his final flight and sailed his last voyage, his spirit lives on in the stillness of a quiet lake, the rhythm of ocean waves, the serenity of the woods, and the endless blue sky. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Donald's life will be held at a future date and will be posted. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived.
