Donald Ray "Spider" Kintyhtt, 72, passed away on June 13, 2025, at Akron General Medical Center; he lived most of his adult life in the Akron, Lakemore, and Springfield Township area.
Donald "Spider" was born to Yvonne E. Brown and Bernard Clifford Kintyhtt on October 6, 1952. He spent most of his youth living throughout the United States, including Ohio, West Virginia, Texas, Arizona, California, and Los Cruces, New Mexico, where he attended Alameda Jr. High before joining the United States Army on October 16, 1969. where he served honorably during the Vietnam era, being awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and worked on the Shillelagh and Redeye Missile System Programs at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. While on leave from the United States Army, Donald met his wife of 53 years, Pamela McClaskey, in Akron, Ohio, where they were married in 1971. Following his military service, Donald, a life member, joined the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 841 Akron, Ohio, where he was given his nickname "Spider" by his coworkers as he was long-legged and could glide through the steel (like a spider) while painting at the steel plants throughout the area. Spider worked as a drywall finisher, painter, and local 841 apprentice instructor throughout his career. Spider was a Union man through and through, being a mentor and "protector" to many, especially Cindy Maxwell of Medina and Richard "Duck" Duckworth of Akron. He loved his union family and fearlessly fought for the rights of his brothers and sisters, which at times led to him being "blackballed" by his employers. Spider religiously attended his union meetings until he fell ill from an aneurysm and polycystic kidney disease in 2011, limiting his ability to do so.
Spider was a man of many passions. He was a lifelong cannabis connoisseur, and his knowledge and love of smoking weed will be remembered by many. He also had a love for music, amateur radio (KBTY3177), and playing video games with his buddy, Michael Batis. In his earlier years, he found joy in fishing for walleye at Mosquito Lake with his close friend, John Smith, known as the "fisherman."
He is preceded in death by his son, Tommy Kintyhtt; parents, Bernard C. Kintyhtt and Yvonne Brown Kintyhtt-Leach; maternal grandparents, Floyd Aquilla Brown and Ora Mae Sanner Brown; paternal grandparents, Bernard Blake Kintyhtt and Audie Mae Starrett Kintyhtt; brothers, David Kintyhtt and Mark Kintyhtt; daughter in law, Christina Kintyhtt; and great-grandson, Jaiden Kintyhtt.
