DORA EMMA RASICCI
NOVEMBER 19, 1925 – AUGUST 5, 2016
Dora E. Rasicci, 90, formerly of North Akron and Green, passed away Friday, August 5, at her residence in North Canton. Born in Mosciano Sant'Angelo, Teramo, Italy, she was the daughter of Domenico and Francesca [nee Merlitti] D'Antonio.
Dora, whose given name was Scholastica, came with her mother and brother Patsy to the United States in 1934 to join her father in West Akron. She attended Crouse and Crosby Schools, and later West High School. She worked for a number of years at the old M. O'Neil Company. She married Sylvester Eugene Rasicci at the old St. Peter's Catholic Church on September 6, 1947. She most enjoyed sharing time with her family and friends, enjoyed singing along with the radio, was an excellent cook and homemaker, and was a faithful and giving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, friend and neighbor. She was a long-time member of Blessed Trinity Parish [formerly St. Martha's], serving for a time as a Greeter and on the Funeral Meal team. She also received pastoral care in the last several years from Queen of Heaven Parish, Green and St. Paul's, North Canton.
She is survived by her children, Rev. Michael (Linda) Rasicci of Batavia, Illinois, Patrick (Justine) Rasicci of Green; grandchildren Andrew, Veronica and Valerie Rasicci; Dustin (Melissa) Murphy, Chanel Hassen; Lisa (Pat) Schuerman, Annette (Rich) Hart, Kristi (Mike) Williams; 10 great-grandchildren, David and Bryan Schuerman; Thomas, Joseph and Faith Hart; Samantha and Kendall Williams; Aubriana, Samiyah and Maleah Hassen; Sisters-in-law Mary Etta D'Antonio and Helen Rasicci; brother-in-law Al (Gloria) Rasicci; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, old friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Patsy, and her husband Sylvester.
Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 N. Main Street, Akron. At her request, cremation has been accorded, and her son Fr. Michael will preside at the Memorial Liturgy which will begin at 11:00 A.M., followed by inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
