Drexal William Mcamis

Drexal W. McAmis, 83, of Tallmadge was a beloved husband, father, and friend passed away from this life on July 18, 2021, surrounded by loved ones to be with his Lord in heaven.

Born in Greeneville, Tennessee on February 10, 1938 to Ida Leo (Duncan) and Jacob Doss McAmis.  The family moved to Stow when he was a young child.  Growing up, he was a back yard mechanic repairing a variety of machines.

After graduating from Stow High School, he joined the Army serving in the 54th Armored Infantry Division in Germany from 1958-1960.  Unable to go home during leaves, he rode all over Germany on his Horex motorcycle.  Once returning home he met and married his wife of almost 60 years, Kay (Smith) on November 21, 1961.  He loved watching sports, enjoyed motorcycle riding, racing, and repairing.  Never saying "I can't do it."

He was a member and usher at Stow Alliance Fellowship.  Drexal worked at Matco where he repaired air tool wrenches and retired from Stark Timber Products.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana; sister, Nema, and parents.

Drexal will be dearly missed by his wife, Kay; sons, Jeff and Michael (Heather); four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; brother, John (Kay) McAmis; sisters, Rita Gentzler, Ann (Glenn) Trowbridge; multiple nieces and nephews; and close friends, William "Bill" Black and Don "Red" Shamblen.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Don Miller officiating.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.
