Earl Charles Iselin, 75, passed away May 29, 2026. Born in Bethesda, Maryland, he lived most of his life in Northeast Ohio.
Earl worked as a Deputy Sheriff with Summit County, retiring at the rank of sergeant. He also worked for several years as an Adjunct Professor of Art at Kent State University’s Stark and Tuscarawas campuses. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Victory Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He spent many years as an avid runner, completing 19 marathons, enjoyed cycling, sailing, walking his dogs, and was a formidable chess player. Art, however, was his passion from a very young age, and many of his happiest hours were spent working in his studio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jr. and Alice Iselin; and sister, Christine Foust.
Earl is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Iselin; daughter, Kathryn (Derek) Sheppard; sons, Jacob (Alexandra) Iselin, Joseph (Jennifer Turner) Iselin, Benjamin Iselin, Alec (Jane Wu) Iselin; grandchildren, Thomas, Jackson, Penelope, Hope, Sienna; sisters, Abigail (Kevin) Holloran, Jennifer (Michael) Smith; brother, John (Michelle) Iselin; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 10:00 until 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge with Rev. Fr. Michael Williamson officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy, www.nature.org, or your local Humane Society or animal shelter.
