IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth "Libby"
A. Azar Alessio (Wolfe)
July 1, 1940 – July 12, 2016
Elizabeth "Libby" Azar Alessio (Wolfe), 76, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, after a short illness with her loved ones at her side.
She was born July 1, 1940 in Uniontown Pennsylvania, but Akron has been her home since the age of 5. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1958 and worked as a secretary at Goodyear Aerospace until the birth of her first child in 1965. She was an active member of Junior Women's Civic Club and St. Victor's parish. She loved all Cleveland sports, unless the Browns were playing the Steelers; her life-long favorite team. She was grateful to witness the Cavs bring home a championship while surrounded by her family.
Libby enjoyed playing bridge and golf, but admittedly, never got as good at golf as she would have liked (but, then again, who does?). Her fondest memories were vacations spent in Hilton Head with her family. Libby is best remembered by her extremely active social life which was envied by her three daughters. She frequently traveled to San Francisco and Atlanta to spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. Libby was gracious, kind and forgiving; a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, and a genuine friend who brought a smile to everyone she met.
Libby was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Lorraine Wolfe, first husband, Floyd Azar, and second husband, Lino Alessio. She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Joe) Reilman, Andrea (Andy) Azar-Salentine, and Stephanie (Tom) Adams, nine grandchildren, Sara, Joey, Zachary, Nicholas and Jacob Reilman, Alexander and Adriano Salentine , and Gabriela and Elizabeth "Ellie" Adams.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm, Friday, July, 15, 2016 at Catavolos Funeral Home, 3653 West Market Street, Akron. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Bernard's Parish, 44 University Avenue, Akron.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project , https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org or P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas, 66675 or the Disabled American Veterans, https://www.dav.org/.
