Ernest E. "Ernie" Choate, 85, went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2015.
Ernie was born in Akron on November 29, 1929 and lived in Tallmadge since 1963. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. serving in the Korean conflict. He was an engineer for the Lucian Q. Moffitt Company retiring in 1987 with 28 years of service. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and was a life member of DAV, a member of American Legion Post, President of Trustees, Lay Leader and was a Sunday School Teacher for 50 years. Ernie was on the Administrative Board and took care of the recycling. He was a blood donor and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Helen, sons, Jeffrey and Stephen Dever and his parents, Ernest E. and Ruby Choate.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Kenny I. (Cynthia) Dever of Heath, OH; sister, Rita (Joseph) McLelland of Munroe Falls, OH; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and niece, Martha (Vincent) Meeker.
Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday March12, 2015 at the Donovan Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Avenue in Tallmadge.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Paul Markland officiating.
Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
