Obituary

Ernesto "Ernie" Carano, 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home.

Born in Carovilli, Italy to Filomeno and Anita (Rossi) Carano, he was a long time resident of North Hill. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie, children, Daniel, Johanna (Scott) Davis, Michelle, and David; grandchildren, Dante and Darren Carano and Cassandra (Daniel) and Rachel Davis; great grandson, Braylan Carano; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph Carano, Helen Parisi, Marina Dukeman, and John Carano.  Preceded in death by his parents, Filomeno and Anita, stepmother, Grazia; infant son, David Philip; and sister, Erminia Carano (Carovilli). Ernie retired from Akron Steel Treating after over 40 dedicated years of service. Ernie's favorite pastimes were tending to his garden, watching wrestling, spending time with family, and hanging out at the Carovillese Club. He was an active Club member working the weekly spaghetti dinners, making sauce, and participating in events and tournaments. He also enjoyed playing cards, bocce, and morra.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Monday at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday morning at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St. Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38101.
