Esther Mary Baker, 86, went to join the Lord and her loved ones in heaven, March 22, 2021
She was born in Akron, OH on March 28, 1934 to Joseph and Esther Marshall. She had one sister, Evelyn, and two brothers, Charles and Joseph Jr. They later moved to Tallmadge, OH.
Esther learned to play piano and organ and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to harmonize.
Esther married the love of her life, Earl David Baker, August 13, 1950. The majority of their married years was lived in Tallmadge, OH in their house built by Earl, his father and brother in law. Seven children, 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren came from this loving union.
Esther worked at Robinson's Dept. Store in her younger years and later at O'Neil's Dept. Store. She was a talented seamstress starting off with winning first place at the Ohio State Fair for her own wedding dress. She was very artistic, loved to draw, make crafts, embroider and garden. She loved flowers, especially roses and pansies. She became a 4-H advisor and took classes to make tailored suits. Esther loved the Lord and wanted to share the gospel with others so she and husband, Earl joined the "Lay Witness" team going church to church witnessing how the Lord changed their lives. They then after, became counselors for the "700 Club".
Esther was a sweet and loving teacher of the Toddler Sunday School Class at Akron Springfield Assembly of God Church for 40 years.
Esther was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Esther Marshall; sister, Evelyn Rupp; brother, Joseph Marshall Jr; daughter, Elaine E. Severns; and most recently her loving husband, Earl D. Baker.
She is survived by her children, David Baker (Susan) of Floral City, FL, Herbert Baker (Barb) of Tallmadge, Earl Baker III (Jan) of Holden Beach, NC, Margaret Wright (Ray) of Madera, CA, Kenneth Baker (Chrissy) of Reynoldsville, PA, Julie Kuss of Tallmadge, OH; brother, Charles Marshall of Atwater, OH.
Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Akron Springfield Assembly of God Church, 1551 Canton Rd., Akron with Pastor Rick Serbin officiating. The family will greet family and friends following the service.
