Eugene "Pete, Peewee" Paul Ilg

Eugene Paul "Pete, Pee Wee" Ilg, 87, passed away July 25, 2022.  He lived all of his life in Tallmadge.

Pete had worked for Uniwear and was a volunteer with the Tallmadge Fire Department.  He started Tallmadge PeeWee Football. Pee Wee loved all Tallmadge sports. But he and his Dad Bud Ilg and his friends never missed a girl's softball game, or a Tallmadge Football game. Pete was a member of the Tallmadge Outing Club, where he served his famous beer battered fish and enjoyed golfing, playing softball with the Silver League and was a champion Golden Gloves boxer. He was also the Tallmadge Dog Warden and member of Teamsters Local 348. Pete enjoyed visiting the family farm with his family in Calhoun Co., West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; son, David; granddaughter, Gina Dawn; parents, Bernard and Daisy Ilg; brothers, David, Joseph, Sr., Russell; sister, Donna Perolis.

Pete is survived by his daughters, Rene' Lambert, Dawn (Jeff) Starcher, Gina Ilg; sons, Russell (Janice) Ilg of Tallmadge, Mark Ilg all of Tallmadge; daughter in law, Kathy Ilg of Tallmadge; 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historical Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will follow visitation at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Scott Baker officiating.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.
