Obituary

Frank Buhas, 87, passed away October 2, 2013 at home with his family and caregivers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane. He is survived by his son, Frank D. Buhas; daughter, Joan (Bob) Kaye; grandson, Justin (Katie) Kaye; caring relatives and many lifelong friends.

He was so blessed to have had so many people that cared for him; called him friend, spoke to him daily, visited with him regularly, or were just good neighbors. We will all miss him but never forget him. A life-long resident of Akron, he graduated from Garfield H.S., The University of Akron, where he received his bachelor's degree and Kent State University where he received his Master's degree. He bravely and honorably served his country in the Navy during World War II. Frank retired from the Akron Board of Education, where he was a teacher, administrator, mentor and coach. He also worked for McDonald's and Firestone. He enjoyed refereeing high school and college basketball and football. He was an avid golfer and many of his peers teased him about his "skilled manipulation of his golf scores". Frank was a member of Firestone CC, past member of Medina CC, a Mason and a Forester.

At his request, there will be no calling hours or services.
